Dr Alice Laskey

Consultant Clinical Psychologist - Writer - Systemic Constellations Facilitator

Alice Laskey.jpeg

I have worked in the field of mental health and emotional wellbeing for over twenty years. I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2004. I've worked with people of all ages in a wide range of NHS, private sector health services and school settings. My focus lies in the healing of deep-rooted trauma and engendering wellbeing.

The work I offer springs from a deep well of professional experience, knowledge, and skills.  I am qualified in multiple therapeutic modalities, such as cognitive analytic therapy, brief psychodynamic psychotherapy, mindfulness-based approaches, various cognitive therapies, systemic family constellations, to name but a few. I am also heavily influenced by depth psychology and ecopsychology, integrating shadow work, mythology, dreamwork, ritual and nature as key resources in my work. Taking an integrative approach enables me to work at many levels. I like to work phenomenologically and creatively, involving the body, mind, heart, and soul. I am guided by the unique needs of those I am in service to as we work collaboratively together.

The interplay between our inner and outer ecology is key to my overall approach. As a Systemic Constellations Facilitator, I gaze through an extremely wide-angled lens beyond the individual to include the various wider systems to which we belong. This may, for example, be our family, ancestral lineage, society, our collective mythologies, geographical place, or our place in nature. This powerful whole-systems approach facilitates radical inclusion where everything has a place and where everyone belongs. This work can promote a healing impulse towards rebalancing for the individual and the system as a whole.

Alongside my therapeutic work with individuals and systems, I have founded psychology organisations and sat on numerous professional committees. I have also worked as a researcher and trainer and have published multiple articles, chapters and a book. I am currently working on my new book on reclaiming the feminine.

I am passionate about sharing the ReEmergence Process work, which focuses on rebalancing the deep masculine and feminine principles that reside within each of us, in service to the relationship with ourselves, each other and with the natural world. Through this process of remembering, reclaiming and reintegrating all of who we are in our inner world, we can become all of who we can be in our outer world. Rebalancing our inner world can help us live our lives full of purpose and help us move towards a more harmonious future together. I believe this is part of the great work of our troubled times.

I emerged into the world immersed in nature, with my roots firmly planted in the hot earth of the Sahara soil in northern Nigeria. I would often be found playing in the mud, happily engrossed in an imaginary game with my latest animal or insect friends.

I grew up in West Africa within a rather nomadic family involved in environmental conservation, education and community development. My colourful and earthy start nurtured my sense of interbeing with all that is. My western education and life in the UK then enabled me to connect with my Celtic roots too.

These days you will often find me playing in the cool coastal waters of Cornwall, where I live with my wonderful young family. My current local loves are stand up paddleboarding, life drawing and painting, walking the coast paths and cuddling our cats. However, part of my heart is still dancing in the warm mud in Maiduguri, celebrating the arrival of the rainy season.

I am both African and European, and I am very much a global citizen. Wherever I make my home, contributing to community is centrally important to me, as is my connection to the land. My soul's passions and brave heart often lead me to initiate and co-create projects in service to environmental activism, children's emotional wellbeing, and social equality in my local community and schools. Whatever my latest endeavour, coming from a place of integrity, truth and compassion in all I do is paramount.

The work I offer comes not only from my professional background but is also a reflection of wisdom gained through my own journey. Like so many of us, I became conditioned into a head-dominated way of living but eventually reached a point where I felt a keen sense of loss and a deep longing. In many ways, I was succeeding, yet my life felt out of balance, and my heart was yearning for something, but I didn't know what. Through my own dedication to personal exploration, I learnt to return to a more embodied, creative and spiritually connected way of life through this process I call ReEmergence. In weaving the many strands of personal and professional experiences together, I authentically embody the dynamic dance between the inner masculine and feminine in my own perfectly imperfect way, doing my best to walk the talk.
